The finding

Trend Circuit sells brand-new, name-brand overstock. Because we hold the stock and record the manufacturer's published list price against every item, we can measure something most retailers can see but few publish: how far a brand's list price sits from what the item actually sells for.

As of August 23, 2026, across 243 items in stock with a recorded manufacturer list price, the median item sells for 66% below that list price. Those items carry $63,817 of combined list price and $18,635 of combined selling price.

The headline number is not the interesting part. The spread between brands is.

The spread, by brand

Median gap between manufacturer list price and selling price, on stock physically held. "Narrowest gap" is the single item in that brand closest to its own list price, which is the number that shows whether a brand ever sells near list at all.

Brand Items held Median below list Narrowest gap
On 4 22% 7%
New Balance 3 25% 20%
Keychron 5 26% 20%
Ridge 3 26% 23%
Turtle Beach 4 28% 10%
JBL 4 29% 19%
Adidas 7 37% 18%
Hunter 3 41% 34%
Sperry 4 50% 45%
TechnoMarine 11 71% 54%
Invicta 141 70% 54%
Chase Durer 3 64% 59%

Read the top and the bottom of that table against each other. When On prints a list price, the shoe changes hands near it, and a discount off that number is a real discount. At the other end, three watch brands cluster around 70%. Out of 141 Invicta watches in stock, the narrowest gap is 54% below list. Not one of them sells within half of its own list price.

That is not a sale. It is a pricing strategy, and it means the discount percentage on those brands carries no information for a buyer.

Method

  • Every active product with both a manufacturer list price and a selling price on record was included. Items with no published list price were excluded rather than estimated, which is why the sample is 243 and not the whole catalogue.
  • Brands with fewer than three items in stock are left out of the per-brand figures. A median of two is not a measurement.
  • Figures are medians, not averages, so a single outlier cannot move them.
  • The numbers are recomputed from live inventory each time this page is built, and they move as stock turns over.

About Trend Circuit

  • Independent online retailer of brand-new, name-brand overstock: watches, footwear, electronics and home goods. Nothing is refurbished or pre-owned. A small number of open-box items are labelled as open box on the product page itself; everything else is sealed and unused.
  • Based in Northwest Indiana. Founded and run by Eric Ingram.
  • Sells through its own storefront at trendcircuitresale.com and on eBay, TikTok Shop and Vinted.
  • Roughly 290 products in stock at the time of writing.

What we can speak to

  • How list prices are set in the watch industry, and why a permanent discount is a pricing strategy rather than a sale.
  • What it actually costs to sell on a marketplace: real fee structures measured across hundreds of settled payouts, not published rate cards.
  • The economics of overstock and liquidation buying for a one-person operation.
  • Running a multi-marketplace retail operation on automation.
